Job Summary

In Your Prime Counseling is seeking a candidate for a part-time mental health therapist position, with possibility of transitioning to full time.  Day to day duties include providing mental health therapy services to individuals, families, couples, and/or groups, providing assessment, planning, and therapeutic interventions in an outpatient mental health setting, and completing all paperwork necessary to treatment including initial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and termination summaries.

The candidate selected for this position will play a key role in supporting a small business to grow!  The candidate will be working directly with the owner of the company daily and establishing a professional and friendly rapport is a must. The ideal candidate will be highly confident in their clinical abilities, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and have interest in being part of the culture of a growing small business.

Duties and Responsibilities

·         Provide counseling services to individuals, families, couples, and/or groups.

·         Completing assessments, diagnosis, treatment plans, progress notes, termination summaries, and necessary other documentation as needed.

·         Select and apply therapeutic techniques to treat clients with mental health issues.

·         Collaborate with family, ancillary services, outside providers, agencies, and physicians as needed.

·         Participate in both internal and external clinical reviews and be able to justify and rationalize treatment.

·         Maintain the management of a caseload of clients including scheduling appointments and responding to client needs as they arise.

·         Engage in outreach programs and marketing efforts as needed.

·         Attend to some administrative duties as needed in cases of absence of the clinical director.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

·         Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology from an accredited university.

·         Licensed as an LCSW, LPC, or PhD in the state of Missouri with no practice restrictions.

Knowledge, skill, and experience requirements

·         Minimum of 2 years in a mental health related position that may include hospital or healthcare experience, casework experience, work in a human services organization, or direct work with individuals and family. Therapy/Counseling experience a plus.

·         Understanding of and ability to use DSM-5 to diagnose mental health disorders.

·         High clinical confidence and the ability to engage in the treatment process independently.

·         Good knowledge of clinical theories, treatment modalities, and methodology.

·         Ability to apply mental health counseling methods and techniques.  Experience with specific techniques (DBT, EMDR, IFS, ect.) is highly desirable but not a requirement.

·         Knowledge of trauma informed care.

·         Ability to apply crisis intervention techniques in case of crises.

·         Knowledge of community mental health and social resources with the ability to refer to these resources.

·         Good clinical judgement.

·         Knowledge of and ability to use standardized assessment tools to support clinical outcomes and measure progress.

·         High emotional resilience when supporting clients in crisis or experiencing emotionally distressing events.

·         Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to meet client’s needs.

·         Knowledge of and ability to comply with HIPAA requirements.

·         Willingness to comply with all aspects of your professional code of ethics.

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·         Ability to set and maintain good boundaries with clients.

·         Experience using an electronic health record a plus.

·         Ability to use Windows, Microsoft Office suite, and knowledge of use of general office equipment is a must.

Conditions of employment

·         Must pass a pre-employment extensive and criminal background check

·         Must currently have and maintain professional license (LCSW, PHD, LPC, LMFT, etc.)

·         Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license


Working Conditions and Physical Effort

·         Working conditions will mostly be in an office setting

·         Must be able to lift 10 lbs. for short periods of time

·         Must be able to provide limited physical support for clients with accessibility needs (opening doors, helping to make a clear path if necessary)
